Le Mascaret is a beautifully restored 17th century farmhouse and cottage set in 3 acres of land on the bank of the Dordogne River. The property is perfectly located for numerous activities to create the perfect holiday in the wine region of Bordeaux. While only 25 minutes outside Bordeaux, Le Mascaret is surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye can see. In the garden of Le Mascaret you will find privacy and peaceful surroundings where the only sounds you will hear are the birds, the bees, and an occasional farmhand working the vineyards that surround us. After a swim, you can have a laid-back lunch under the shade of a tree or under the awning in the front of the house. Or take a stroll down the field and admire the vineyards and the expanse of the Dordogne River.
Wine production is the most important industry in the region and Wine Chateaux are, literally, all over the place. Just in the Fronsac appellation, where Le Mascaret is located, there are close to 200 wine growers whom cultivate mostly Merlot grapes but also some Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. During your visit, you will be within minutes of some of the world’s most renowned wine regions and producers. Medoc, Sauternes, Graves, Entre-Deux-Mers, Pomerol, and St-Emilion are all nearby. |
